The Progress® Kemp® LoadMaster® load balancing solution may be licensed in a variety of ways to meet the differing usage models that an organization may have for application delivery. These licensing options include core application delivery features and require a support subscription tier, Standard, Enterprise or Enterprise Plus, for advanced load balancing features.
Support subscriptions are annual and can be upgraded and downgraded as application delivery demands change for maximum flexibility. The support tiers are mapped to common customer challenges and requirements, simplifying the selection of the appropriate feature set and support levels.
LoadMaster subscription licenses enable the solution to be licensed for a specific period and optionally renewed at the end of that period. This licensing model is cost-effective for short-term or fixed-period projects or to optimize cash flow through an OpEx approach. Subscription model is available on a limited range of virtual LoadMaster models for both cloud and hypervisor.
Pooled licensing offers enterprises and service providers a flexible and elastic way to license their application delivery resources. With a Pooled license, the capacity is “pooled” and allocated dynamically across multiple deployments. The license for each deployment can be issued from the pool in varying capacities with the flexibility to re-license to a lower or higher capacity as often as required. This licensing model is delivered through the Progress® LoadMaster® 360 platform, which manages the entire fleet of LoadMaster solutions and enables the flexible licensing capabilities of Pooled Licensing. Pooled licensing is ideal for organizations with dynamic load balancing requirements and enables easy scaling of workloads and capacity.
Learn MoreAn annual subscription license provides a single Virtual LoadMaster instance with full load balancing capabilities and support. The license is offered with 1 Gbps and 5 Gbps throughput options and comes with feature enhancements, software updates, and 10x5 customer support. It is best suited for organizations seeking a cost-effective solution to meet essential load balancing needs without straining the budget.
Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) licenses allow LoadMaster instances to be licensed based on hourly usage without any commitment on consumption. PAYG licensing is available on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) clouds for a range of performance levels and features. Billing is based on a single hourly charge directly from the cloud service provider and includes 24x7 support. This licensing model is useful for organizations that have seasonal or ‘bursty’ application delivery demands that only require additional resources for a limited period. Since costs are tied to actual consumption, it’s important to monitor traffic patterns and understand exact usage requirements to avoid unexpected expenses and exceeding the budget.
Hourly PAYG LoadMaster OptionsThe Service Provider Licensing Agreement (SPLA) is available exclusively for service providers. The program offers a flexible licensing and billing model to support Managed Service Provider (MSP) business models. With SPLA, service providers can offer LoadMaster services to their customers for a fixed monthly charge per instance. This allows the creation of value-added services without upfront costs or an ongoing commitment. SPLA is limited to virtual appliances running on the service provider’s infrastructure or supported public cloud platforms (Azure and AWS).
Kemp LoadMaster Service Provider ProgramPerpetual licenses permanently enable LoadMaster usage at the specified performance levels. This licensing model is available on physical appliances, virtual appliances and the cloud. The Perpetual licensing approach is suited to organizations with stable environments that have defined usage requirements for the planned lifetime of the product and wish to pay up-front and amortize the cost over the usage lifetime. Progress offers three Virtual LoadMaster models with Perpetual licensing – VLM 1G, VLM 5G and VLM MAX. Advanced features and functionality, such as WAF, GSLB and authentication capabilities, are available with specific support subscription tiers – Enterprise and Enterprise Plus. Features such as Enhanced WAF, application analytics and telemetry and license management are available with an additional purchase of LoadMaster 360.
