GEO – GSLB for Availability, Scalability and Reliability

DataSheet

Optimizing multi-site traffic for resilience and the best Application Experience (AX)

Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) provides multi-site business continuity and optimized geographic-based redirection of traffic for the best application experience. In the event of a service disruption or the need to scale capacity, mission-critical traffic is seamlessly redirected based on predefined policies to minimize impact and the need for manual intervention. IP Reputation and DNSSEC protect your applications from common threats like DDoS attacks and DNS cache poisoning.

Highlights

  • Performance: Up to 45,000 DNS Queries Per Second (QPS), depending on resource allocation.
  • Effortless scalability with up to 256 addresses per FQDN
  • Scheduling Methods: Round Robin, Weighted Round Robin, Fixed Weighted, Real Server Load, Proximity and Location.
  • Fine grained control of traffic using EDNS (Extension Mechanisms for DNS) to redirect based on client subnet.
  • DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC): Protects against DNS cache poisoning through origin authentication of DNS data, data integrity, and authenticated denial of existence.
  • Advanced LoadMaster Site Health: Leverage LoadMaster's detailed health reporting for more accurate site health.
  • Automation: Leverage automation toolsets such as Powershell and Ansible or the RESTful API to orchestrate traffic management.

GEO offers intelligent traffic management across multiple data centers and clouds to provide resilience and optimize the application experience (AX).

GSLB Use Cases

Multi-site

Intelligently deliver traffic across multiple cloud and datacenter locations

Hybrid Cloud

Application delivery in hybrid environments using an Active-Active or Active-Passive approach

Disaster Recovery

Auto-detection and failover of services in the event of a datacenter outage

Auto Scaling

Transparently auto-scale services using cloud services to meet changing demands

How to get GEO

GEO is available as a feature on all LoadMaster models across all platforms or as a dedicated virtual appliance. It is recommended that more than one GEO enabled device is deployed for resilience.

GSLB on LoadMaster

GEO can be enabled on any LoadMaster with an Enterprise Plus support subscription. Existing support subscriptions may be upgraded to Enterprise Plus at any time to enable GEO GSLB.
