Topology, in networking terms, is a description of the relationships and connections between the various elements that make up the network. These elements include network nodes and the links between them. Network topology can be defined as physical or logical. The physical topology is defined by the routers, cables, etc. that comprise the network. The logical topology defines how data packets transverse the network. This can be different from physical topology.
