Microsoft Azure Stack brings cloud based Microsoft Azure functionality into any private data center. It allows the delivery of Azure services from non-Microsoft data centers in a way that is consistent with Microsoft Azure. As such it allows a quick way to deploy modern Cloud based services and application platforms on private infrastructure. Azure Stack allows the use of the same tools that are used with the public Azure Cloud so that developers, IT administrators, and users allowed to self-provision can use the same toolset irrespective of where their resources are hosted.
Azure stack supports development of applications and services based on Windows, Linux, .NET, PHP, Ruby and Java. Deploying Azure Stack locally allows the development of services and applications using workflows like those found in DevOps on the private Azure Stack, and then deployment to either the public Azure Cloud or to production virtual machines on the Private Azure Stack. This gives hybrid cloud delivery platform that can flex and change as required.
