Kerberos Protocol

The Kerberos Protocol defines how clients interact and authenticate with services on a network. Clients requesting access obtain tickets from a Kerberos Key Distribution Centre (KDC) and they present these tickets to any servers they want to connect to. The tickets represent the clients network credentials and define whether access to a particular resource is allowed. The Kerberos Protocol assumes that client and server interactions take place on open, unsecured networks and has components to counter this.
