IMAP

Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is a protocol designed to allow an email client to access email on a remote email server. Unlike earlier email standards IMAP allows a copy of the email to be stored on the server in a hierarchical structure. This means that multiple clients can be used to access the email and all devices will be kept in sync.
