IaaS is a delivery method for IT resources over the Internet. It provides Cloud based access to raw IT infrastructure such as server hardware, networks, connectivity, and operating systems. These IT resources are generally not configured by the IaaS provider, but are often raw virtual machines that the customer has administrative responsibility for setting up as they require. Examples include Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. This model is used by Cloud customers that require a high level of control over the environment they build in the Cloud.
