Issues ticket-granting tickets (TGT) for connection to the ticket-granting service in its own local or a trusted remote domain. Before a client can ask for a ticket to another computer it must request a TGT from the AS. The AS returns a TGT to the client for the ticket-granting service (TGS) in the target computers domain.
