The Kemp Application Experience (AX) Fabric

Download Kemp 360 Central Contact Us

The application delivery world has changed as organizations leverage cloud platforms and operational approaches such as continuous delivery to achieve agility and cost efficiencies. This constantly changing, multi-platform environment requires a fresh approach to how applications are scaled, delivered and made resilient while delivering the best possible Application Experience (AX) for users.

The old big-box approach of the in-house data center can’t offer the flexibility and cost efficiency demanded by this new application environment. Organizations require an application experience fabric that meets current and emerging demands of applications running across multiple environments. The resilience and flexibility within this, delivers the best possible AX.

Metered Licensing for Application Experience

Break away from the restrictive model of having to purchase a license for every load balancer instance with the OpEx model provided by Metered Licensing. A Kemp Metered Licensing subscription brings the flexibility of application delivery capacity anywhere, at any scale to maintain the best possible user AX.

  • Unlimited ADC instances
  • Monthly billing
  • Subscription tiers from 1Gbit
  • Deploy on premises or in the Cloud

Organizations benefit by having predictable costs and avoiding over-provisioning of ADC resources to meet peak or anticipated demands. IT operations benefit by having the capability to easily deliver ADC resources when and where needed without having to procure new licenses.

Metered Licensing Solution Brief

Scaling the Fabric

With Metered Licensing, traffic is never restricted due to a license limitation allowing deployed load balancer instances to scale down, up and out as demands change. If a single instance needs to deliver additional capacity, simply assign additional hypervisor or cloud resources. If capacity needs to be scaled out, additional instances can be deployed and configured via API.

  • Avoid capacity outages
  • Scale out with LoadMaster clustering
  • Automated scaling via RESTful API

Simplify Cloud Migration

Cloud migrations pose a challenge for traditional load balancing architectures. The big-box, multi-tenant appliance approach does not translate to cloud due to performance limitations and infrastructure topologies. When moving to the cloud, tenants will fragment into individual load balancers while individual applications may require dedicated instances. Application delivery in the cloud requires an approach that can cost-effectively address the multi-load balancer requirement while retaining control and ease of management.

With Kemp, our Metered Licensing approach has no restriction on the number of instances that may be deployed. This means that there is no cost overhead on having multiple load balancers on-premises and in the cloud. Kemp 360 Central provides the cross-platform management with a single point to control all load balancing resources (including 3rd party) and simplifies cloud transition with single click migration of virtual services.

Hybrid and Multi-Cloud

Wherever applications may be deployed, Kemp application experience fabric ensures application resilience and total flexibility in where load balancing resources are deployed. Licensing for AX fabric is based on overall throughput so load balancing resources are not tied to any application or platform.

The fabric has visibility on all load balancer/ADC instances regardless of where they are deployed which simplifies administration and delivers unified insight on overall application delivery metrics and status.

Maintaining Application Experience with Predictive Analytics

Being able to identify and resolve an issue before it develops into a problem that impacts the application is key to maintaining application availability. Kemp 360 Vision is proactive automation that monitors and remediates to ensure availability and performance of the application experience fabric.

Standard monitoring APM and NPM tools only provide a rear-view mirror approach to identifying application and network related problems. Kemp 360 Vision identifies emerging issues and provides preemptive remediation using a combination of machine and human analysis.

Automate for Efficiency and Consistency

Automation is key to ensuring that application experience fabric can easily and rapidly flex to meet changing usage patterns. Kemp LoadMaster load balancer supports automation of deployment and lifecycle management with a rich API that ensures consistent and timely implementation of changes to the fabric.

Automation is a key component of delivering on the goal of zero application outages as many application outages can be traced to an erroneous manual change. With the same delivery platform across the fabric, consistency and repeatability are easily achieved – greatly reducing the opportunities for outages caused by manual changes.

Enabling DevOPS and Continuous Deployment

Use an application experience fabric to easily recreate the live production environment without having to share expensive tenant instances or purchase load balancer licenses for the development and test processes. With Kemp Metered Licensing, fully featured load balancer instances can easily be provided for individuals and teams via automated deployment in Kemp 360 Central. The implementation of developed services is greatly simplified with Kemp 360 Central VSMotion with simplifies the migration of virtual service configurations from development, through test and eventually to production.
