Network Management encompasses a range of techniques, tools and administrative practices that are designed to keep computer networks running as required. All networks and network devices require network management of one form or another. Either manually via hands on configuration, or via automated configuration and management in large, complex networks encompassing SDN and NFV. Many standards for building management frameworks for networks have been invented and widely adopted. Examples are Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Modern network management processes are very focused on network, server, and application security. Especially when related to personal information for PCI DSS financial and HIPAA medical related data transmission.
