Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)

A Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) is a unique human readable identifier for a network node in the Domain Name System (DNS) hierarchy. An FQDN specifies every domain in the hierarchy tree between the lowest endpoint node and the top level domains (such as .com or .org). Each domain in the hierarchy is separated by a dot. An example of an FQDN is www.kemptechnologies.com with www at the lowest level, .kemptechnologies an intermediate level, and .com as the root or top-level domain.
