Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)

MTTR is the average time (mean) it takes to be notified that a piece of hardware or a software component has failed (see MTTD entry), combined with the time it takes to troubleshoot the issue and then repair or restore the failed component to production use. MTTR can be reduced for IT systems by performing proactive Application Performance Management (APM), Network Performance Management (NPM), and system monitoring to help ensure issues are identified quickly, or before failures occur so that scheduled preventative maintenance can be carried out. For failures that have occurred the use of expert system analysis tools like KEMP 360 help deliver fixes as quickly as possible. Kemp 360 provides both interactive preemptive monitoring and expert system repair assistance within its toolset.
