POP3

Post Office Protocol v3 (POP3) is an Internet standard protocol for the storage and delivery of electronic mail. POP3 stores email on a server, then delivers it when a client connects to the POP3 server. Mail is not retained on the server once the client has downloaded it. Contrast with IMAP, which does retain mail on the server until it’s specifically deleted.
